Melissa Hartman, a Seattle native, made Spokane her home in 2017 after graduating from Washington State University with a degree in Criminal Justice and a minor in Military Science. Her deep passion for helping others has been the driving force behind her career choices, shaping her dedication to service and community.
For ten years, Melissa proudly served in the Washington Army National Guard, primarily as a Human Resources Officer. In this role, she became a strong advocate for service members, offering support with personal challenges and guiding them toward career opportunities. Her work also provided firsthand insight into the stigma surrounding mental health within the military, fueling her commitment to breaking down barriers and supporting those in need.
Melissa’s experiences have reinforced her belief in the power of community. She values the importance of a strong support system—whether it’s helping each other through difficult times or celebrating moments of joy. She firmly believes that even the smallest gestures of kindness can spark hope and create meaningful change.
Her professional journey also included a brief tenure as a 911 call receiver for Spokane County, further highlighting her dedication to serving and supporting others.
When she’s not working, Melissa enjoys hunting for unique home décor treasures at thrift stores and antique shops, baking, and spending time with her family and her beloved fur baby. Guided by the philosophy that kindness can transform the world, she embraces the words of Clare Pooley: “In a world where you can be anything, be kind.”
